Liberty Building

The Liberty Building is a high-rise in central Casablanca with curved lines and a V-shaped form that makes it stand out in the city skyline. It combines residential and commercial spaces within a modern layout that introduced a fresh approach to urban construction when completed.

The building was designed in 1951 by a Swiss architect and was among the first skyscrapers constructed in Africa. Its completion marked a turning point in Casablanca's construction history and demonstrated new possibilities for urban growth.

The building shows how European design ideas reached North African cities in the mid-20th century and reshaped everyday street life. People gather in the squares around it, their movement through the space shaped by its distinctive silhouette.
