Ancient slaughterhouses of Casablanca, Industrial heritage site in Hay Mohammadi, Morocco.
The slaughterhouses complex spans 14 acres and features Neo-Mauresque architecture with high ceilings, wide corridors, and industrial-scale processing areas.
Built in 1912 during French administration, architect George-Ernest Desmarest designed the facility, which Henri Prost later modernized in 1922.
The former industrial space now functions as a cultural center, hosting theater performances, art exhibitions, and community workshops throughout the year.
The site opens daily from 9 AM to 6 PM, with guided tours available in French, Arabic, and English through the main entrance.
Theater Nomade established its permanent residence in these former slaughterhouses, transforming industrial chambers into performance spaces.
