Cetinje, Historical capital in Montenegro
Cetinje extends across a karst plain at 650 meters elevation, enclosed by limestone mountains including Mount Lovćen in southeastern Montenegro.
The city became Montenegro's capital in 1482 when Ivan Crnojević relocated his court from Obod and established the Cetinje Monastery as a strategic center.
The National Museum of Montenegro in Cetinje contains five specialized museums presenting collections of historical artifacts, art, and ethnographic materials.
