Maritime Museum of Montenegro in Kotor

The Maritime Museum occupies a three-story Baroque palace that houses detailed ship models, sailors' uniforms, weapons, and navigational instruments. The displays fill the rooms with photographs and equipment that document the region's seafaring traditions.

The museum was founded when a seafaring brotherhood donated its collection in 1880, creating one of the region's first maritime institutions. Earthquake damage was repaired through restoration work, allowing the building and its contents to survive for modern visitors.

The museum displays portraits of ship captains and personal maritime objects that reveal how deeply connected the town was to seafaring life. These items show the pride and traditions of sailors who shaped Kotor over generations.
