Mala Rijeka Viaduct

The Mala Rijeka Viaduct extends 498.8 meters across a deep valley, carrying a single rail track at a height of 198 meters above the river.

Upon its completion in 1973, the structure held the record for the highest railway bridge globally until the Beipanjiang Railway Bridge in China surpassed it in 2001.

The bridge's name translates to 'Little River' in English, reflecting the Montenegrin waterway that flows beneath its concrete and steel structure.

The viaduct forms an essential section of the Belgrade-Bar railway line, enabling transportation through Montenegro's mountainous terrain between Serbia and the Adriatic coast.

The largest support pillar of the viaduct features a foundation that exceeds the dimensions of a standard tennis court, demonstrating its structural requirements.
