Moracica Bridge, Concrete bridge in Podgorica, Montenegro.
Moracica Bridge is a concrete structure that spans 960 meters across the Moraca River valley, standing approximately 175 meters above water level. It carries major European traffic routes connecting the coast with inland Montenegro in both directions.
Construction began in 2016 as part of a plan to modernize transport links between northern and southern Montenegro. The project represented a major step in connecting regions that were previously separated by long travel times.
The bridge links two regions that have followed separate routes and rhythms for centuries. Today it serves as a daily passage for people connecting family ties and work across the valley.
Visitors can cross on foot or by car, with pedestrian paths offering views down the valley. Cooler months are more comfortable for walking, as the sun here can be quite strong during summer.
Engineers used special concrete mixtures designed to resist strong mountain winds and temperature swings that occur in the deep valley. This technical solution makes it a notable example of engineering adapted to challenging mountain terrain.
