Blažo Jovanović Bridge

The Blažo Jovanović Bridge crosses the Morača River at the point where it meets the Ribnica in Podgorica, spanning approximately 115 meters. It functions as a primary crossing for vehicles and pedestrians moving between different sections of the city.

Built in 1950 as part of post-war infrastructure reconstruction, the bridge was designed under the direction of architect Branko Žeželj. It underwent extensive renovation in the 2000s that refreshed the structure while preserving its original character.

The bridge takes its name from Montenegro's first President of the People's Assembly, honoring a key figure in the nation's political transformation. It remains a daily crossing point that residents rely on to move between different parts of the city.

The bridge sits along Saint Peter of Cetinje Boulevard and handles heavy traffic from both vehicles and pedestrians, particularly during rush hours. Be aware that this is an active traffic junction where you should stay alert if traveling on foot.

The renovation completed in the late 2000s added modern structural improvements to the historic bridge while keeping its appearance largely intact. This balance between old and new often surprises visitors who expect a structure showing its age.
