Sri Ksetra Kingdom

The archaeological site contains extensive earthwork fortifications, defensive walls, and moats surrounding temple complexes and residential areas spanning 1485 hectares.

From the 1st to 9th centuries, Sri Ksetra functioned as a primary urban center of the Pyu civilization, developing trade networks between India and China.

The site features hundreds of Buddhist monuments, temples, and stupas that demonstrate the early spread of Buddhism through architectural and artistic expressions.

Visitors need to arrange transportation from Pyay city, located 8 kilometers away, to access the archaeological site and its museum collection.

The East Zegu Temple exhibits rare architectural elements combining Indian religious motifs with local construction techniques of the 7th century.
