Shwesandaw Pagoda, Pyay

The Shwesandaw Pagoda rises 290 feet from its base, featuring a central dome surrounded by 64 smaller pagodas on its elevated platform.

The pagoda contains hair relics of Buddha and stands as a central religious monument in the former Pyu capital of Srikshetra since the 5th century.

Every three years, the pagoda's sacred tooth relic chamber opens to Buddhist worshippers who gather to pay their respects to this religious artifact.

The pagoda offers an elevator access to its entrance and provides clear views of the Sehtatgyi Buddha statue from its upper terrace level.

During the full moon of Tabodwe, devotees perform the miphon pwe ritual, lighting bonfires using Sesbania cannabina plants around the pagoda grounds.
