Khakaborazi National Park

Khakaborazi National Park spans 3,810 square kilometers of land, containing evergreen forests, mixed deciduous forests, and snow-capped mountain peaks reaching 5,881 meters.

The park received official designation in 1996, marking Myanmar's commitment to preserving the northern forests and protecting the diverse wildlife within its boundaries.

Local indigenous groups including Rawang, Lisu, and Myanmar-Tibet nationals maintain traditional practices within designated areas of the national park.

Reaching the park requires traveling 920 miles from Yangon to Myitkyina, followed by 218 miles to Putao and 35 miles to Naungmung.

Scientists discovered a new deer species, the leaf muntjac, during expeditions in 1996 and 1997 within the lowland forest sections of the park.
