St. Paul's Cathedral, Catholic cathedral in Mdina, Malta

The cathedral features an octagonal dome, twin bell towers, and a symmetrical facade constructed with local limestone in Baroque architectural style.

After the 1693 Sicily earthquake destroyed the previous church, architect Lorenzo Gafa designed and built the current structure between 1696 and 1705.

The cathedral preserves numerous artistic treasures, including Mattia Pretti paintings, fifteenth-century religious artworks, and a collection of silver objects by Albrecht Dürer.

Visitors can access the cathedral from Monday through Saturday between 9:30 and 16:30, with an entrance fee that includes access to the museum.

The cathedral stands on the location where Roman governor Publius received Saint Paul after his shipwreck on the Maltese coast in 60 CE.
