Lumut Port, Maritime terminal in Perak, Malaysia
Lumut Port is a maritime facility on the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia with multiple terminals for handling different types of cargo and vessels. The facility processes break bulk, dry bulk, and liquid bulk including limestone, coal, petroleum products, and palm oil derivatives.
The project began in 1993 when the State Government of Perak signed a privatization agreement that led to the port's construction. This development was part of efforts to modernize the region's maritime infrastructure.
The port provides work for people in nearby communities and supports the region's economy through active maritime trade. Daily operations shape the lives of those employed here and residents living close by.
The port sits in an accessible location on the west coast and can be reached by various ground transportation options. Entrances are well marked and visitor areas provide clear orientation.
The Lekir Bulk Terminal has a natural water depth of 20 meters, making it one of the largest dry bulk unloading facilities in Southeast Asia. This depth allows larger ships to dock directly and unload cargo efficiently.
