Ilagan, Component city in Isabela, Philippines
The fourth largest city in the Philippines spans across 116,626 hectares of land, featuring extensive agricultural areas and urban developments throughout Isabela province.
Spanish missionaries established Ilagan as a settlement in 1686, transforming the region from its original name Bolo into a significant administrative center in Cagayan Valley.
The Mammangi Festival celebrates the agricultural heritage of Ilagan, where farmers display their corn harvests and demonstrate traditional farming techniques.
The city maintains two primary growing seasons, with dry period cultivation from December through April and wet season farming from May until September.
The Department of Agriculture officially designated Ilagan as the Corn Capital of Philippines, producing over 155,000 metric tons of corn per growing season.
