Tagoloan, municipality of the Philippines in the province of Misamis Oriental
Tagoloan is a coastal town in Misamis Oriental Province, situated along Macajalar Bay with flat terrain and gentle hills. It spans roughly 118 square kilometers divided into ten barangays, with Sta. Ana being the largest and Casinglot housing a major container port.
Tagoloan's history begins in the 1600s with missionary visits that established small communities. During World War II, the town experienced Japanese occupation but was later liberated by allied forces, after which residents rebuilt their community.
Christianity is central to community life in Tagoloan. The Church of Our Lady of Candlemas brings residents together, especially on February 2 during its feast day, when locals gather to celebrate their shared faith and traditions.
The town is easily walkable, with many residents using tricycles for transport. Good roads connect the different barangays, making exploration simple on foot or with local transportation.
Casinglot, one of the barangays, hosts a major container port that serves as a key trade hub for the region. This port connects the small town to the country's larger commercial network, making it a bridge between sea and land.
