Pamitinan Cave, Limestone cave in Rodriguez, Philippines
The cave formation extends through the foothills of Sierra Madre mountain range, featuring natural rock formations near Wawa Dam in Rizal province.
On April 12, 1895, Andres Bonifacio and eight katipuneros gathered inside this cave to declare Philippine independence from Spanish colonial rule.
The cave walls preserve inscriptions from the Philippine Revolution, including the phrase 'Viva la Independencia Filipina' carved by independence fighters.
Visitors can access the cave through guided tours that explain safety protocols and provide information about the geological formations and historical sites.
The National Historical Commission designated this cave as a historic site in 1996, recognizing its role during both the Philippine Revolution and World War II.
