Kashmore District, Administrative district in Northern Sindh, Pakistan.
Kashmore District is an administrative district in Northern Sindh located between the Indus River on the western side and the Thar Desert on the eastern side. The territory spans across three administrative subdivisions: Kashmore Tehsil, Kandhkot Tehsil, and Tangwani Tehsil, with Kandhkot functioning as the main administrative center.
The district was created in 2005 after separating from Jacobabad District and became an independent administrative unit within Larkana Division. This reorganization reflected broader administrative changes in Sindh Province.
The local communities speak Sindhi and Balochi languages, their daily life closely tied to agricultural traditions and family networks. The people maintain customs rooted in Sindh's cultural heritage, shaping how they work, gather, and celebrate together.
The cooler months offer the most pleasant conditions for travel and exploration throughout the region. Kandhkot serves as the main hub for administrative services and local transportation, making it a good reference point for planning visits.
The region is known for its major rice cultivation, supported by an intricate system of canals and pumping stations that shape the landscape. This focus on rice farming defines the local economy and makes the area a center of food production.
