Bannu Cantonment, Military cantonment in Bannu District, Pakistan
Bannu Cantonment is a military settlement covering about 4.3 square kilometers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. It includes residential areas, administrative facilities, and public infrastructure with services such as waste management and road maintenance.
A British officer founded the original fort of Dhulipgarh on this site in 1848 during the East India Company period. Following Pakistan's independence, the location received its present boundaries in 1953 through a Ministry of Defence order.
The settlement retains its name from the colonial period and displays the layout of a planned military community. The arrangement of residential zones still reflects that ordered design, even though the population is now more mixed.
The location is easily accessible and well-organized as an administrative district with designated areas for residence and services. Visitors should check with the Cantonment Board for current information about access and any regulations.
The site was known under different names, with the original fort bearing the name Dhulipgarh before it became known by its present designation. This naming history reflects the various phases of administration that shaped the area.
