Tomb of Jahangir, Mughal mausoleum in Shahdara Bagh, Pakistan
The Tomb of Jahangir features red sandstone walls with marble inlays, surrounded by four minarets and Persian-style gardens divided into four sections by water channels.
Completed in 1637 under Shah Jahan's rule, this mausoleum houses the remains of Emperor Jahangir, who governed the Mughal Empire from 1605 until 1627.
The interior chamber contains a white marble cenotaph inscribed with the 99 Names of Allah, reflecting Islamic artistic traditions and Persian architectural influences.
The monument stands near the banks of the Ravi River, requiring regular maintenance due to flooding risks and environmental factors affecting its structural integrity.
The mausoleum design specifically excludes a central dome, following Emperor Jahangir's personal request before his death in Kashmir.
