Pir Sohawa

Pir Sohawa is a hilltop location in the Margalla range at about 900 meters elevation, with views stretching across valleys and mountain ridges in all directions. The site sits at the gateway to multiple walking paths that lead deeper into the surrounding hills.

The location grew from efforts to connect Islamabad with the mountain region through road construction in the Margalla Hills. This infrastructure opening made the hillside accessible to visitors and established it as a destination for outdoor activities.

The location is open year-round and sits roughly 16 kilometers north of Islamabad, reached by well-maintained roads. Bring comfortable walking shoes if you plan to explore the hiking trails that branch out from the main area.

Snow occasionally falls on the higher elevations during winter, which is unusual for a subtropical region like Islamabad. These rare snowfalls briefly transform the hillside into a landscape quite different from the city below.
