Daman-e-Koh, Hilltop viewpoint in Margalla Hills, Pakistan
Daman-e-Koh is a hilltop observation point in the Margalla Hills overlooking Islamabad. From the platforms here, you can see the Faisal Mosque, wide avenues, Rawal Lake, and the surrounding mountain ranges.
The name comes from Persian words meaning 'foothills', describing the natural position of this observation point. The site was developed later to provide visitors with accessible views of the city and its surroundings.
Local families gather here in the evening to share meals while watching the city below. Visitors use mounted telescopes to spot landmarks and read detailed maps of what they see.
The site is easily accessible with parking at the entrance and electric vehicles for visitors with limited mobility. It's best visited in early evening when the light is favorable and crowds are lighter.
During winter months, leopards descend from the mountains and can occasionally be spotted from this viewpoint. Year-round, wild monkeys appear near the platforms and become comfortable around visitors.
