Rose and Jasmine Garden, Botanical garden in Shakarparian, Pakistan
The Rose and Jasmine Garden is a botanical park in Shakarparian featuring landscaped grounds across approximately 20 hectares with curated plant collections. The space showcases more than 250 varieties of roses alongside numerous species of jasmine planted throughout the grounds.
The Capital Development Authority established this garden in 1970 as part of Islamabad's broader plan for public green spaces. Its creation reflected the growing city's need for recreational areas where residents could spend time outdoors.
The garden serves as a gathering place where visitors encounter traditional horticultural practices through seasonal celebrations and flower displays. People come here to connect with local gardening traditions and observe the work of caretakers tending the blooms.
The garden is accessible via Kashmir Highway and features walking paths, seating areas, and parking facilities for visitors. These amenities make it possible to spend several hours comfortably exploring the grounds without worrying about basic services.
The collection includes rare Pakistani rose varieties and native jasmine species that are difficult to find elsewhere. This preservation work makes the garden a center for botanical research and conservation of local plants.
