Faizabad Interchange, Transport interchange between Islamabad and Rawalpindi, Pakistan

Faizabad Interchange is a major transport node connecting multiple highways and local roads at the border between Islamabad and Rawalpindi. The structure features elevated roadways that allow traffic to flow in different directions without ground-level intersections.

The project began under Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's administration and was completed in 1998 to address traffic congestion between the twin cities. Its opening marked a significant step in regional transport infrastructure development.

The gathering serves as a transit hub where daily commuters pass through, and its wide open spaces make it an easy spot for people to assemble and organize public events.

The interchange is accessible by public transportation with bus terminals connecting different parts of the twin cities. The area tends to be crowded during peak hours, so it is best to plan visits accordingly.

In November 2017, the location became the focal point of large-scale demonstrations lasting nearly three weeks that resulted in major political shifts. The events showed how a transport hub could transform into the center of public mobilization.
