Swarzędz is an industrial city in Greater Poland Voivodeship located roughly 10 kilometers from Poznań. It lies along the Swarzędz Lake shore and combines residential neighborhoods with manufacturing areas and local services.
The settlement was first recorded in 1366 and received town rights in 1638 from King Władysław IV Vasa. It kept its original name rather than being renamed to Grzymałowo.
