Oliwa Cathedral, Gothic cathedral in Oliwa district, Gdansk, Poland
The Oliwa Cathedral extends 107 meters in length with two slender towers reaching 46 meters high and features a three-nave basilica layout with a transept.
Initially constructed as a wooden structure in the 12th century, the cathedral suffered multiple destructions, including a devastating fire in 1350 and Swedish attacks in 1626.
The cathedral contains 23 altars displaying artworks from the 17th century, created by Herman Han and Adolf Boy in Baroque and Rococo styles.
The cathedral offers regular 20-minute organ concerts throughout summer, with entrance fees of 6 PLN for regular tickets and 5 PLN for discounted admission.
The main organ, built between 1763 and 1788 by Johann Wilhelm Wulff, contains 7,896 pipes and produces sounds that imitate water, animal calls, and human voices.
