Saxon Palace, Palace in Warsaw

The Saxon Palace was a large royal residence in Warsaw built in the neoclassical and baroque styles. Today the site consists mainly of a monument square with a tomb for fallen soldiers and surrounding gardens.

Built in the 17th century, it served as a royal residence for the Saxon kings of Poland. The Second World War reduced it to rubble and the decision was made never to rebuild it.

This site once served as the heart of noble society where aristocrats gathered for important state occasions. Visitors today come to reflect on what stood here and the role it played in Warsaw's elite circles.

The site is open to the public and located in central Warsaw, easily reached on foot from major landmarks. You can visit at any time to view the monument and walk through the surrounding open space.

Rather than rebuilding, the site was deliberately left as an open memorial space in the heart of Warsaw. This choice created a quiet reminder of wartime loss in the middle of the bustling city center.
