Przegorzały

Przegorzały is a residential district in Zwierzyniec that stretches along the slopes of Wolski Forest and Sikornik Hill. The area offers views of the Vistula River and is surrounded by green landscapes, giving it a natural setting within the city.

The settlement first appears in records in 1162 as 'Pregoral', a name referring to burned grounds. For centuries it was controlled by the Norbertine Sisters, which shaped its development for a long period.

The district displays buildings from different periods, including an 18th-century inn and the 1929 modernist Villa Odyniec. These structures show how the neighborhood evolved and reflect the way people have shaped this place over time.

The area connects easily to Kraków through public transportation and has many walking and cycling paths throughout. Comfortable shoes are recommended when exploring, as the terrain includes some hills and slopes.

Archaeological evidence shows that humans occupied this location since the Upper Paleolithic period, going back about 30,000 years. This ancient continuity of settlement gives the area a deeper historical significance than its modern buildings suggest.
