Schronisko na Starych Wierchach, Mountain hut in Gorce Mountains, Poland.
Schronisko na Starych Wierchach is a mountain hut located in the western Gorce Mountains at about 968 meters elevation, surrounded by spruce forest and mountain clearings. The facility offers multiple sleeping rooms, a dining area, and a common room, accessed via marked hiking trails.
The original wooden shelter was built in 1932 but was destroyed in 1945 during the war. The current building was reconstructed in 1974 on the same location.
The shelter is run by the Polish Tourist and Sightseeing Society and serves traditional Polish food to visitors. It functions as a natural meeting place for hikers exploring the mountain trails in the region.
The shelter is accessible year-round via marked hiking trails, allowing visitors to arrive in any season. It is advisable to check ahead about opening times, as operations can vary depending on the season.
On clear days, the mountain clearing offers wide views toward distant peaks including the Tatra Mountains and Babia Góra. These far-reaching vistas make it a favorite spot for mountain photography.
