Średni Wierch

Sredni Wierch is a summit in the Gorce Mountains rising to 1122 meters and covered in dense forest. The terrain extends westward toward Solnisko Mountain and connects through mountain paths to neighboring peaks.

The mountain saw centuries of herding and farm work that created many open clearings across its slopes. Over time these cleared areas gradually became forested again as human activity diminished.

Traditional wooden shepherd huts dot the slopes and reflect how mountain communities lived and worked with the land. These structures show the building methods that locals developed over centuries to adapt to the mountain environment.

Several marked trails lead from the village of Obidowa to the summit and connect to other routes across the Gorce Mountains. The easiest time to visit is from late spring through early autumn when paths are in good condition.

The area contains traces of thirteen former mountain clearings including Polanka, Stosy, and Skoda that are now overgrown by forest. These place names preserve memories of the pastoral economy that once flourished here.
