Szwedzki Młyn, Historical water mill in Szczecin, Poland.
Szwedzki Młyn is a historical water mill standing along the Chojnówka stream, visible today as ruins with stone foundations and remains of an old water reservoir system. The site shows the engineering structures that once powered this industrial operation.
The mill was founded in the 13th century by Cistercian monks and initially processed grain. During the Thirty Years' War, it was converted into a gunpowder production facility.
The mill complex included a cemetery for the Jaeckel family, with preserved tombstones and a memorial to Otto Jaeckel from the 19th century.
The site is accessible via marked hiking trails such as the Wojciech Lipniacki Trail in a wooded area outside central Szczecin. Wear sturdy shoes since the paths can be uneven and the ruins sit in a natural, undeveloped landscape.
The mill served multiple purposes across centuries, from paper production to a popular tavern before closing in 1945. This varied industrial history is written into the physical remains visitors see today.
