Zimna Woda, Glacial lake in Morasko district, Poznań, Poland.
Zimna Woda is a small glacial lake in Poznań's Morasko district, situated within the Morasko Meteorite Reserve and surrounded by dense wetland vegetation and old forest. The water is fed by natural springs and supports two fish species - common crucian carp and tench - that inhabit this secluded ecosystem.
The lake formed during the last glacial period and serves as the source of the Różany Potok river in northern Poznań. The surrounding area was protected as a reserve to preserve the glacial landscape features and its ecosystem.
Walking trails connect the shoreline to the broader educational path system of the Morasko Meteorite Reserve, guiding visitors through the protected landscape.
Visitors should wear sturdy footwear because the terrain is wetland and can be muddy, especially after rain. The walking paths are open year-round and provide safe access through the protected reserve area.
The shoreline is carpeted with thick moss growth that creates special conditions for wetland plants rarely found elsewhere in the region. These moss carpets are a distinctive feature of the protected area.
