Świerczek, Mountain summit in Słopnice, Poland.
Świerczek is a mountain summit in the Beskid Wyspowy range reaching 734 meters high with steep slopes dropping down toward the Czarna Rzeka river. The peak sits in a forested area with visible rock formations throughout its slopes.
The summit's name comes from Wallachian terminology used by early pastoral settlers in the region, referring to its steep slopes. This naming reflects the presence of shepherds from southeastern Europe who grazed their animals in these mountains.
The forested slopes of Świerczek contain numerous rock formations that demonstrate the geological composition of the Carpathian flysch, essential to regional natural studies.
No marked trails lead directly to the summit, but the area can be accessed via a yellow trail from Tymbark passing through Zaświercze toward Mogielica. The forested terrain can be slippery, so appropriate footwear is important.
The Janowski Potok stream originates from the eastern foot of the summit, supplying water to the surrounding landscape. Several-meter-high rock outcrops emerge from the ground on the slopes, creating natural wall formations visible throughout the mountainside.
