Kamenná lúka, Mountain summit and scenic viewpoint in Carpathian Mountains, Slovakia
Kamienna is a mountain peak in the Carpathians rising to about 1,200 meters (3,900 feet), surrounded by natural vegetation and meadows. From the summit, you can look out across the landscape in both directions and see how the terrain changes along the border region.
This area has served as a border region between Slovakia and Poland since medieval times, marking territorial divisions. This role shaped how the landscape developed and how people in the area lived over many centuries.
Shepherds in the area have used the surrounding meadows for grazing their flocks for centuries, and you can still see this work happening today. The way people live and work here reflects these deep connections to the land.
Several marked hiking trails lead to the summit from different starting points, with easier and steeper options available depending on your preference. Weather can change quickly at this elevation, so it is best to come prepared for varying conditions.
From this spot, you can see the complete panorama of Bieszczady National Park and Pieniny National Park, stretching across both sides of the border. This makes it a rare place to view two countries and their different protected areas at the same time.
