New Orangery in Łazienki, Palm house in Łazienki Park, Poland
The New Orangery in Łazienki is a three-level palm house housing exotic plants and sculptures. The building features a garden pathway on the first floor and an elevated intermediate level with facilities, along with large windows overlooking the park.
The building was constructed in 1785 to provide winter shelter for exotic trees from the royal collection. It underwent comprehensive renovation in 2014 by WWAA architects.
The name comes from its original role as a winter shelter for exotic trees from the royal collection. Visitors encounter marble statues and plaster casts of ancient sculptures that reflect the legacy assembled during King Stanisław August's reign.
The building combines a palm house with exotic plants and the Belvedere Restaurant offering garden views. Large windows provide good sightlines to the surrounding park and help with orientation while exploring.
Hidden entresols nestled among tree crowns create separate viewing spaces offering unexpected perspectives on the vegetation. A perforated Corten steel structure runs through the interior and supports climbing plants throughout the building.
