Park nad Balatonem w Warszawie, Urban park with artificial lake in Praga-Południe, Warsaw, Poland
Park nad Balatonem w Warszawie is a 3.2-hectare urban space built around an artificial lake in Warsaw's Praga-Południe district. The grounds feature wooden bridges that cross connecting channels, a viewing terrace with a pier extending into the water, and an interactive water cascade positioned near the main reservoir.
The park opened in November 2010 as part of a modernization effort centered on the Gocławski Canal. That waterway had been created in the early 20th century and provided the foundation for this new green space.
The bronze cat sculpture of Cyryl in this space symbolizes attention to urban stray animals. Visitors seek it out to touch the figure and ask for good luck.
The space sits between General Abraham Street and Nasypowa Street, making it easy to reach on foot from nearby areas. You will find a beach volleyball court, a modern playground, fishing piers, and the Balaton Café for refreshment and dining.
The artificial lake connects to neighboring water bodies through a system of channels, creating an integrated water network. In the eastern section, a six-sided floodwater reservoir quietly manages water levels across the surrounding area.
