Dog Kawelin in Białystok

Dog Kawelin is a bronze sculpture in Planty Park depicting a sitting dog with natural proportions and fine details. The work was created by artist Małgorzata Niedzielko and stands in the green space for visitors to view.

This work is a replica of an original piece by Piotr Sawicki senior and was unveiled as a permanent installation in 2006. The Podlaskie Society for Fine Arts supported the creation and placement of this bronze replica in the park.

The sculpture is named after a notable dog from local history and has become a gathering spot for visitors passing through the park. People often pause to photograph the bronze figure or learn about its story.

The sculpture sits within the park grounds, easily reached on foot from the main pathways. The park has flat walkways and is open during daylight hours, making a visit straightforward at any time.

The sculpture is based on a historical figure whose story runs deeper in the city than many visitors initially realize. This makes the work more than just an art installation, but a connection between the past and the present.
