Main Post Office building in Bydgoszcz

The Main Post Office building is a brick structure in Neo-Gothic style with a distinctive tower at its northwestern corner. It runs along two streets by the old harbor and displays typical period features like pointed arches and decorative brickwork details.

This building was completed in 1883 by architects Boettger, Kleinfeldt, and Neumann in the Neo-Gothic style. A major renovation in 1899 restored structural elements and helped preserve it for future generations.

The name refers to its role as the main communication hub for the city. German inscriptions above a riverside entrance door reveal how various communities shaped this place over time.

Access is possible from multiple sides since the building faces two main streets and opens toward the harbor area. The interior remains open for postal services and visitors can admire the architectural details from outside and in some corridors.

The building preserves its original architectural elements such as historic windows, metal railings, and ceramic floors from its time of construction. These details remain in their original forms and offer insight into the craftsmanship and materials of the 19th century.
