Mosteiro de Santa Mónica

Convento das Mónicas is a large stone complex in São Vicente, Portugal, featuring a chapel and multiple wings organized around interior courtyards and gardens. The buildings display the typical layout of a convent designed for living, work, and prayer.

The convent was founded in 1586 by Maria de Abranches and housed up to 277 nuns by 1707. The 1755 earthquake caused severe damage to the complex.
