The Igreja de Santo António features ornate gilded woodwork decorations throughout its interior walls, complemented by blue and white azulejo tile panels.
Constructed in 1707 and reconstructed in 1769 following the devastating earthquake of 1755, the church stands as an example of Portuguese Baroque architecture.
Six detailed paintings within the church depict the life events of Saint Anthony, who holds special significance for Portuguese Catholics seeking marriage and lost items.
The church welcomes visitors from Tuesday to Saturday between 14:00 and 18:00, with entry tickets available through the adjacent Municipal Museum.
Two bell towers of different heights mark the church exterior, while inside stands a rare statue of Saint Eloi, patron saint of goldsmiths.
