Cabo de São Vicente Lighthouse, Lighthouse at Sagres Point, Portugal

The cylindrical stone tower stands 28 meters high with a lantern and gallery above a three-story keeper's building near steep coastal cliffs.

Construction began in 1846 on the ruins of a Franciscan monastery, replacing a basic structure that had existed on the cape since 1520.

The lighthouse takes its name from Saint Vincent of Saragossa, whose remains were brought to this location in the fourth century.

The Portuguese Navy operates guided tours of the lighthouse and museum every Wednesday afternoon, allowing visitors to explore the maritime heritage.

Two 1000-watt lamps generate light visible from 60 kilometers away, making it one of the most powerful lighthouses across Europe.
