Tâmpa, Brașov

Zinne is a mountain summit in Brașov that rises to about 960 meters, with limestone cliffs and natural pathways carved into the slopes. From the top, you can see the entire city spread below and the Carpathian Mountains stretching across the horizon.

The mountain served as a strategic watchtower for defenders of medieval Brașov for centuries. From this high point, they could spot approaching dangers and protect the city below.

The name Tâmpa originates from Hungarian language influences in the region, reflecting the multicultural character of Transylvania through different historical periods.

You can reach the summit by hiking one of several marked trails or by riding the cable car from the base station. Both options work well depending on whether you prefer walking or a quicker ascent.

A large illuminated sign like the Hollywood letters sits on the mountainside and is visible from the old town center. This glowing landmark has become part of how locals and visitors see the city at night.
