The cave was discovered by Cristian Lascu in 1986 and has been sealed for the last 5.5 million years.
Despite its inhospitable conditions, Movile Cave has become a symbol of scientific discovery and exploration in Romania.
Visitors are not allowed to enter the cave due to its delicate ecosystem.
Movile Cave is home to 48 species found nowhere else in the world.
