Marine Museum

The Marine Museum in Constanta displays a large collection of naval artifacts, vessels, uniforms, and navigation tools from different time periods. The exhibition spreads across many rooms and tells the story of seafaring and naval operations on the Romanian coast.

The institution began in 1909 as part of a naval school and was reorganized into its current form during the 1960s. Since then it has served as the main center for preserving and sharing Romania's naval history.

The collection displays naval uniforms and insignia from the Romanian fleet dating back to the 1800s. You can see how maritime traditions and seafaring practices developed along the Black Sea coast.

The museum is located in central Constanta and is easy to reach on foot. Plan to spend several hours exploring the different exhibition areas and examining the collection details.

The collection includes an ancient vessel from the 3rd century still containing sheep fat and a rare single-piece wooden boat from the 15th century. These objects show the trade routes and boat-building techniques used on the Black Sea during ancient and medieval times.
