Negoiu Peak

Negoiu Peak rises to 2,535 meters in the Southern Carpathians and displays steep slopes with distinctive rock formations along its elevation profile. The summit structure features several prominent ridges that allow for different climbing approaches.

The peak was historically known as Tunsu's Stone and served as a natural border marker between the historical regions of Transylvania and Wallachia since medieval times. This boundary role shaped the mountain's significance in regional history across centuries.

Romanian mountaineers view this peak as a traditional climbing objective that marks an important milestone for alpine certification in the country.

The climb starts from the Călțun mountain hut, which serves as the departure point for marked trails leading to the summit. Plan for a full day of hiking, as the route is demanding and requires good physical fitness.
