Negoiu Peak, Mountain summit in Făgăraș Mountains, Romania
Negoiu Peak rises to 2,535 meters in the Southern Carpathians, featuring steep slopes and distinct rock formations across its elevation profile.
The peak, formerly known as Tunsu's Stone, has served as a natural border marker between historical regions of Transylvania and Wallachia since medieval times.
Romanian mountaineers regard Negoiu Peak as a traditional challenge, marking it as an essential conquest for alpine climbing certification in the country.
Visitors can reach the summit through marked trails starting from Călțun mountain hut, located 1,330 meters east of the peak.
The summit presents different climbing experiences across seasons, with winter ascents requiring technical ice climbing skills through its northern ridge.
