The Endless Column, Modern art sculpture in Târgu Jiu, Romania
The Endless Column reaches 30 meters high and consists of 17 identical rhomboidal metal modules arranged vertically on a steel spine.
Romanian sculptor Constantin Brancusi created this memorial in 1938 to honor the soldiers who defended Târgu Jiu during World War I.
The geometric structure combines Romanian folk art elements with modern industrial materials, representing both traditional craftsmanship and contemporary design.
Visitors can observe the monument throughout the day, with lighting equipment installed to enhance visibility during evening hours.
The column forms part of a sculptural ensemble spanning two kilometers, including the Gate of the Kiss and Table of Silence monuments.
