Sculptural Ensemble of Constantin Brâncuși at Târgu Jiu

This sculpture group stretches about 1,275 meters through Târgu Jiu's city center, connecting four major monuments: the Gate of the Kiss, the Endless Column, the Table of Silence, and the Tree of Life. Together they create an outdoor route linking parks and public squares into a cohesive artistic walk.

Constantin Brâncuși created this monument group in 1938 as a memorial to soldiers who died defending his hometown during the First World War. The project grew from his desire to honor fallen troops with works that would endure across generations.

The sculptures blend folk traditions with modern geometry, creating spaces where visitors encounter themes of remembrance and artistic innovation. Local residents gather around these works as symbols of regional identity.

The four works spread along Calea Eroilor street, which is easy to walk and passes through public squares and parks. Wear comfortable shoes and allow time to stroll at your own pace to see each piece properly.

The Endless Column rises over 29 meters skyward, constructed from more than 600 cast iron and steel modules arranged in rhythmic patterns. This modular building approach was an innovative technique for creating durable outdoor monuments at that time.
