Aizis, Ancient Dacian settlement in Fârliug, Romania

The archaeological site lies on Dealul Ruieni hill, containing foundations of structures from both Dacian and Roman periods at coordinates 45.4877°N, 21.8498°E.

Emperor Trajan documented this settlement in his work Dacica, mentioning the Roman army's advance through the region with the phrase 'inde Berzobim, deinde Aizi processimus'.

The name Aizis derives from ancient linguistic roots connected to goat-related terminology, as interpreted by Romanian historian Vasile Pârvan through Bactrian and Armenian elements.

The site appears on the Tabula Peutingeriana, marking its location on the Roman road network between the settlements of Bersovia and Caput Bubali.

The location features archaeological evidence of both Dacian settlement patterns and subsequent Roman military fortification construction following the conquest of the region.
