National Theater Caracal, Historic theater in Caracal, Romania.
The National Theater of Caracal displays a combination of neo-baroque and neo-Renaissance architectural elements with Corinthian columns framing three main entrances.
Construction of the theater began on July 14, 1896, under Austrian architect Franz Billek and reached completion in 1901, marking Caracal's third largest city status in Oltenia.
The theater has hosted performances by Romanian actors George Vraca and Grigore Vasiliu Birlic, along with concerts by composer George Enescu throughout its history.
Located at Strada Cuza Voda 10, the theater underwent extensive renovation from 1995 to 2008 following a fire, restoring its performance capabilities and architectural features.
The building represents Franz Billek's only completed architectural project in Romania, featuring decorated balconies and a main hall with original painted ceiling motifs.
