The Romanian Literature Museum preserves over 300,000 pieces including manuscripts, photographs, art pieces, and memorial objects in its extensive collections.
Founded in 1957 by academician Dumitru Panaitescu-Perpessicius, the museum originated from an Eminescu documentary collection donated by writers in 1950.
The institution maintains manuscripts from notable authors including Marcel Proust, Thomas Mann, Paul Valéry, Giovanni Papini, Giuseppe Ungaretti, and Mihai Eminescu.
The museum operates daily except Mondays, with summer hours from 10:00 to 18:00 and winter hours from 09:00 to 17:00 at Nicolae Crețulescu Street.
In 2021, the European Museum Academy recognized the institution with the DASA award for its contributions to museology and cultural preservation.
