The Vernescu House features marble floors, golden decorations, large mirrors, and stained glass compositions throughout its luxurious interior spaces.
Filip Lens constructed this residence in 1821 as a wedding gift for his wife Lisaveta Balotescu-Carpinisanu before Gheorghe Vernescu acquired it in 1886.
The building represents the fusion of French architectural influences with Romanian design elements through the renovation work of architect Ion Mincu.
The former residence now houses an upscale restaurant and casino establishment, offering dining and entertainment options in central Bucharest.
Russian author Lev Tolstoy spent time in this building when it served as the Russian Army headquarters during the 1853 military campaign.
