Spring Palace, Former presidential residence museum in Bucharest, Romania.
The Spring Palace is a former presidential residence in Bucharest with approximately 80 rooms spread across multiple floors, furnished with Murano crystal chandeliers and Indian silk carpets. The interiors remain in their original state, giving visitors a sense of the scale and furnishings of this residential complex.
This residence was built in 1965 and served as a private home for a political leader during Romania's socialist period until 1989. The end of that regime brought major political and social upheaval that significantly changed the country's direction.
The palace displays how Romania's communist leadership lived, with preserved furniture and personal items that reflect the daily life of that period. Visitors can see what luxuries and comforts this inner circle enjoyed while most people lived under much simpler conditions.
Visiting requires advance booking and is done through guided tours of the premises. You should allow several hours as the tours cover a large area due to the size of the property.
An underground bunker beneath the property was equipped with specialized ventilation systems and had tunnel connections to other locations. These shelter structures reveal the security measures that were prepared for the leadership of that era.
